July Update

Saturday, July 7th, 2007
After a brief hiatus we are performing/preparing for various events. Here is a quick summary: 1. Since January 2 our sifu has been teaching at the Lee's Association on Saturdays. So far we have participated in three performances with them: 1. a lion dance and eye-dotting ceremony at their facility in honour of their ancestors; 2. a lion dance and kung fu performance at their banquet (see photos); 3. a lion dance team at the Canada Day celebration. 2. At the Canada Day celebration we also had a lion dance team from the Hoy Ping Athletic Association. 3. Tonight we will be doing a kung fu performance at the Chinatown Night Market. The Hoy Ping facility will be open at 7:00PM for anyone wishing to do extra preparation. All participants should be there by 8:00 and we will go down to the street at 8:30. 4. We have two events (including both lion dancing and kung fu) in September and one in October to prepare for. There will be three banquets for three different societies. 5. Anyone interested in improving their lion dancing should attend on Thursdays and Saturdays this summer. 6. There will soon be a number of pictures from Canada Day and the night market posted.
