Congratulations to the former self-declared three star blocking champion ... Jason. You put up a good battle and lasted a long time ... however, this time the victory went to the more experienced competitor (whom you previously proclaimed victory over). A message from Linda: "So now we know the difference between stopping and quitting! Right, Jason? heh - neener!"

Introducing Our Members

Sunday, January 20th, 2008
Going to a class may be a little confusing if you are new. Here is a brief introduction to some of our main performers and instructors. Amen is our most senior student, having been here for seven years. He is our number one lion dancer and recently has been performing sets with the three-section staff and the broadsword. Even though he is only 16, Raymond is one of our longest-term members. He is a main performer at our shows, specializing in Cha style as well as double dagger sets. Ricardo is one of our main performers and his knowledge of our sets is second only to our sifu. In addition to lion dancing he usually performs a Bak Sil Lum or "chopper" set. Leon is the main organizer for our events. He helps supervise and directs our many lion dance and martial arts performances. In addition to teaching many of the students, he regularly performs a Pok Dao or staff set. Linda joined us after years of experience with different styles and is recognized as a sifu. At our shows, she normally performs with the broad sword or straight sword. More member profiles will be added in the future.

We wish to congratulate Danny Quon for being elected Lion Dance Director for the Hon Hsing organization. Danny has supported us in many events and has encouraged closer ties between our groups. In his new role, we look forward to continue working closely with him.

Happy New Year! We hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and is looking forward to a new year filled with fun challenges and exciting new opportunities. Already we have a special Lion Dance performance scheduled for this upcoming Saturday evening, and looking further ahead we have the annual Chinatown New Year Parade, which is a huge event that celebrates the Chinese New Year. Every year the parade gets bigger and bigger, so we're expecting the largest turn out yet. The Parade will take place on Sunday, February 10th, 2008 and we encourage everyone to come out and help and have fun! To give those who may be new a taste of what the parade is like we have updated our Videos section with a brand new clip from our performance last year, so do check it out!
