The Traditional Kung Fu Invitational 2013

Tuesday, November 5th, 2013
We would like to congratulate our members Ricardo Ho and Simon Graham for their outstanding participation in The Traditional Kung Fu Invitational 2013 tournament this year. Together they took home two 1st place, three 2nd place, and one 3rd place victories! They trained hard this year and should enjoy the fruits of their labours. We would also like to thank Sifu Jack Wong and Traditional Kung Fu Training Centre for hosting such an exciting kung-fu event each and every year! While each competitor gave a strong performance, as you can see from above it was our very own Ricardo Ho who was crowned Grand Champion this year. It was a long journey for him to get this far, but he persevered and we are all proud of his achievement.

The 2013 summer hot streak continues!

Friday, August 9th, 2013
Wow is it hot! We hope everyone has been enjoying the summer. We've had many lion dance shows this year already and coming up next is a special event this Sunday in New Westminster! (In honour of this very special occasion our usual Sunday class has been cancelled.) CHINESE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION (CBA) OF VANCOUVER MOSAIC TILE UNVEILING CEREMONY Sunday, August 11, 2013 The CBA of Vancouver and the City of New Westminster would like to invite you to the unveiling of a mosaic tile to commemorate early Chinese immigrants to New Westminster. The mosaic, commissioned by the CBA and designed and created by Liz Calvin, depicts the ancient Chinese folk art of paper cutting which has a history of more than 1,500 years. The pattern is that of a crane on a pine tree, a traditional symbol of prosperity, health and welfare. The pine tree is known for its unyielding strength, standing amidst the harsh winter snows. This spirit of determination parallels that of the early Chinese immigrants who persevered and endured inequalities and other struggles throughout their settlement. 11:00 a.m. Mosaic Tile and Didactic Panel Unveiling Ceremony Southwest corner of Columbia and McKenzie Streets
